Silk Dyeing Technique



Join Silk Artist Marty Robinson for this one-day workshop in which you will learn how to create your very own luxurious silk scarf using a salt dyeing technique.
In this workshop, you will learn about this unique dyeing process along with tips and tricks regarding color selection and application to create a beautiful design.

Participants will select and apply color to their scarves, using salt to move and enhance the dye into eye-catching patterns. Marty will explain various tip, tricks, do’s and don’ts of this dyeing technique.
Marty will demonstrate and discuss different unique designs that can be achieved with this dyeing process.
At the end of the session you will leave your piece with Marty who will wash and set your completed piece. It will be available for pick up at Kitsap Art Center after December 10th.

  • It is recommended that participants wear clothes that can get messy
  • Please bring a pair of rubber gloves designed to be used in hot water

Marty Robinson is the owner and artist behind A Piece of Soul Art Studio in Gig Harbor, WA.
After 32 years as a Juvenile Probation Officer, retirement led Marty to the beauty of art. She began paper crafting before discovering the world of silk painting, learning under renowned silk artist Karen Sistek. Marty fell in love with the vibrance of the color as it moved on the silk.
She is a member of Silk Painters International and the Peninsula Art League.
