Description
Creative Fiber Baskets: Starting the Journey
Join us for an afternoon of hands-on learning with artist Gayle Lawn-Day as you discover the wonderful art of basketweaving while creating your very own mini basket.
Participants will learn basic techniques and use fiber to begin and finish a mini basket of their own design. Various baskets will be available for review and study by participants to see what each technique looks like and how they can be combined.
The main fiber used in this session will be cord and yarn as they are the easiest of the materials to manipulate into various shapes and designs and does not require water for soaking. However, other materials such as beads, fabric, wire, twigs and other fiber types will be available to incorporate/weave into your basket.
The intent of this class session is to set you on the road to creative basket making and to explore your aesthetic and creativity. This is a BEGINNING class, so no expertise is required except for an open mind and a willingness to explore and embrace “mistakes” in the learning process. The results will surprise you!
All supplies are included.
