Kitsap Art, located in beautiful Old Town Silverdale is looking to expand our team. As the premier provider of art education on the greater Kitsap Peninsula since 1998, we offer high quality fine art classes for both children and adults in a wide variety of media.

We passionately believe that there are no mistakes in art and Kitsap Art strives to be a safe space where students are encouraged to draw and create for themselves using the fine art skills learned through our curriculum.

Art instructors at Kitsap Art are hired as independent contractors. Rate of $25 per hour.

Current opportunities available:

  • Youth instructor - Silverdale: Serving students ages 5 years – Teen
    1. Summer Camps: weekday mornings or afternoons; June to August.
    2. School Year Classes: weekday afternoons and evenings, Saturday mornings; September to June.

These classes utilize Kitsap Art curriculum focused on learning fundamental art elements while developing basic drawing techniques and using a variety of media.

  • Adult Class Instructor – Silverdale: Serving students ages 18 years and older, year-round.

These classes are geared towards specific media and techniques for beginning to advanced artists. Experience in Watercolor, Pastels, or Mixed Media is preferred.

  • Events Instructor – Silverdale: Serving students ages 5 years – Adult, year-round.

Canvas Events are done in our step-by-step method using acrylic on canvas.

 

Instructors will be trained to organize and implement the Kitsap Art methodology of art instruction and curriculum, including teaching protocols and responsibilities.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Experience teaching children and/or adults.
  • Ability to draw and use a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Ability to adapt instruction methods to reach students at multiple learning levels.
  • Must be able to work independently, effectively multitask, and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to collaborate with other instructors to align classes, and occasionally substitute.
  • Ability to follow Kitsap Art’s teaching protocols and responsibilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work on your feet for up to four hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to move equipment within the teaching environment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Fingerprinting and background check required.
